Why 24hr Worship?

Our prayer is that our 24hr worship events become the catalyst for establishing Houses of Prayer where the worship never ceases. 24/7 worship is how all of Heaven responds to the beauty, majesty and character of Jesus:

Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”

Revelation 4:8

Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying:“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and praise!”

Revelation 5:11-12

As Matthew Lilley of Presence Pioneers says, “The angels surrounding the throne of God with incessant worship are not enslaved by duty but enthralled by beauty. It is not obligation but fascination that keeps them there day & night. Jesus is worthy of worship! The revelation of who He is and what He has done on the cross demands an extravagant response. Day & night worship is not primarily to get something, but it is because we have already received something. The Gospel provokes worship. When we see Him we sing. Why should communities gather 24/7 to worship and pray? Jesus is why.”

God’s ultimate desire is to bring Heaven to the every nation and people group on Earth, and this is how Jesus taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven” (Matt 6:10). Part of what it means for Heaven to be established on Earth is for the Body of Christ to join and replicate the unceasing worship of Heaven.

Spending time with Jesus changes us. Worship and prayer are transformative. RC Sproul said “Prayer does change things, all kinds of things. But the most important thing it changes is us.” Those who gather for day & night worship & prayer are being changed to become more like the One to whom they are singing and praying. It causes the nature of Jesus and the fruit of the Spirit to be more evident in the body of Christ. Mobilizing 24/7 worship and prayer will inevitably results in the sanctification and transformation of the believers who are spending those hours ministering to God. A Church transformed by the presence of Jesus will more accurately represent Jesus to the world.1

What do our events look like?

Each worship session is 1hr long, and worship leaders and their teams can book as many or as few sessions as they like over the 24hr hours. It doesn’t matter what style of worship you prefer or if songs are repeated, as long as the worship is heartfelt and genuine. Most of the time there are very few other people present, which doesn’t matter as the focus of our attention is ministering to the Lord, not to people.

In the 20 years we’ve been doing these events the one thing that worship leaders have loved is that they are already walking into the atmosphere of the presence of the Lord, so worshipping in that environment becomes very easy. Our constant prayer is that which Paul prayed in Ephesians, that the Holy Spirit would give us wisdom and revelation as we worship so that we may see more of the beauty and majesty of Jesus. The more of Him we see, the easier it is for us to worship.

“I’m convinced that the reason why the creatures closest to the throne of God are covered with eyes is because the closer we get to His throne, the more we will see. And the more we’ll see, the more we’ll worship.”
